Question: What can I do to keep my hair or as much of it as possible when going through chemotherapy?
My Answer: If you're being treated with chemotherapy, ask your doctor about a cooling cap. These devices have helped many women keep some or quite a bit of their hair during chemotherapy that can cause hair loss. Cold caps and scalp cooling systems work by narrowing the blood vessels beneath the skin of the scalp, which reduces the amount of chemotherapy medicine that reaches the hair follicles.
