Who created Mielle hair products you ask? Monique Rodriguez.
Ok, so I have been following her since before she started her big brand Mielle.
I used to have an Instagram account, but no longer have one, due to the fact that I just felt it wasted my time to be honest.
But at the time, I loved doing braid-outs on myself and enjoyed looking up braid out results (still do) online from time to time. Thats how I found Monique!
She had a hashtag #braidout on one of her pictures and I was just drawn to her, why you ask? Well, I thought she was so beautiful and I loved her hair!
I wanted to have braid-out results just like hers! My braid-outs were flat at the roots with little to no volume on the top.
Yet, her braid outs looked perfect!! she had the perfect curl with volume!
Well, like I said, her hair and beauty was everything! Her kids were little and cute too.
People were just drawn to her and her cute little family. She always posted pictures of her husband Melvin and their two adorable daughters.
She would share pictures and videos of how she styled her and her kids hair.
Everyone loved her Instagram content of hair care tips and pictures including me!
She then created just one product, a mint oil from her kitchen and was making it and selling it out of her home.
She showed all the boxes of oil she was shipping out to paying customers and I was like oh, wow!
I was amazed at her many sales that she was getting just from her Instagram account that she was selling out of her dang garage!
So, she contacted Sally Beauty Supply and had a meeting with them.
The next thing you know, her mint oil product hit the shelves at Sallys!
Although, I should mention that prior to being in Sally's she did do a few booth sales in town between her garage selling days and her Sally days.
Anyways she was growing fast! Light speed fast!
After she got in sally's, I went in to buy a bottle of that mint oil too! I'm telling you, I believe everyone wanted her hair, just like me!
Just in case anyone is wondering, I returned that oil a few days later after buying it. The smell made me gag. It had a very strong peppermint smell for me. No thank you!
But when I bought the mint oil originally the sales lady told me everyone is coming in to buy that mint oil and mind you at the time her only advertising was her Instagram! Wow!
I'm going to be honest Monique the CEO of Mielle was copying everybody!
But I mostly noticed how much she was copying her biggest competitor Camille Rose!
At this time I followed both Camille and Mielle trying to figure out whose product was better.
Now I know Camille is the best! But at the time when Mielle was new, we were all trying to look up who's was better Mielle or Camille?
If you notice CEO Monique even chose a similar name to Camille calling her brand Mielle.
Monique claims she came up with the name that were similar to her daughters names. She has two daughters named Mia Gabrielle and Mackenzie Arielle. The name of the company Mielle comes from their names.
You be the judge!
One time Monique from Mielle even copied Camille Rose's campaign.
The Camille Rose brand started giving out free samples to certain stops in a Camille rose truck almost like a mini tour-bus type thing.
That was a really fun gesture for their followers and Instagram friendly. She was essentially giving back to the communities and that campaign idea was a huge success for them.
Then immediately Monique of Mielle copied her by doing the SAME EXACT CAMPAIGN like clock work!
First of all, when Mielle first started her infamous brand's name it was originally called Mielle Organics. Then suddenly after a few years she took off the word organics off all of her labels and just kept the name Mielle.
After this happened is when I would say people started noticing and complaining about how their hair wasn't looking so hot from using her products anymore.
Ok this part of the mess could be a whole article on it's own but I will do my best to keep things short and sweet and to the point!
A youtuber by the name of @LindaLynn93 a fantastic youtuber by the way! I love her because she keeps things 100% real! Plus I think she is fearless! You will see why in a moment.
Like a normal youtuber, we do hair product reviews just like Linda.
So on this particular uneventful day. She filmed her Mielle product review, uploaded it to youtube like any other video.
What makes this time different is when Linda suddenly notices the CEO of Mielle Monique is in her comments section coming after her in the comments section for giving Mielle a negative review of her products.
Linda said Mielle was just doing a "money grab" because the products were no good!!
Here is that video:
Mielle since deleted her comments after people defended Linda and her video. In fact people were defending Linda so much so, where they wanted to cancel Mielle's brand altogether!
Monique's husband Melvin was so upset over this backlash that he came for Linda calling her up from finding her phone number from their customer online records!
Here is Linda Lynn talking about that phone call from Monique's husband for those interested:
Monique Rodriguez immediately goes into a huge Giveaway mode.
Probably to hide and distract all the negative online hate she was getting at the time, from people who were feeling like Monique and her husband Melvin were in the wrong in their actions to target a youtuber for a simple review over their products (that Linda bought with her own money mind you).
She was giving away a car at the time! So the positive comments were once again pouring in.
Well things calm down a bit, until...
So all that mess leads us to today.
Since starting her brand back in 2014 Monique sold Mielle to P&G company in 2023.
Although Mielle continues to be led by Monique and her husband Melvin, as CEO and COO and operates the brand as an independent subsidiary of P&G Beauty.
Since the switch people have complained all over social media of their hair loss!
Although there are a ton of womens hair loss causes
Clumps of hair and lawsuits are flying all over the place because people are blaming Mielle!
Watch this video for all the hair loss tea:
Is this the end of Mielle? I would have to say, yes!
There is no way a brand can recover from this not even if they give away a car in my opinion!
In conclusion: I want to give my sincerest sorry to all the women and men who are losing their hair over her products!
