People want to know why Caillou is bald? Does he have alopecia or does he have cancer? 

With certain cartoon characters trying to be more and more relatable lately with characters such as Mandy Mouse who uses the wheelchair and is in the hit cartoon Peppa Pig, people want to know if that's the case with Caillou?

Why Is Caillou Bald? First Who Is He?

Caillou is a cartoon character based on the books written by children's book author Christine L'Heureux.

Christine is a Canadian author and publisher who, with illustrator Helene Desputeaux created the famous Caillou. 

Caillou became a highly successful TV series from 1997 to 2010 based on her books.

The TV show entered syndication in 2010.

Although, after 20 years of being on the air on PBS Caillou was cancelled.

In a statement, a PBS spokesperson said that Caillou was retired “as part of our ongoing efforts to continuously refresh our offerings to meet the needs of today's kids.”

Parents were very happy because they felt the character was teaching kids bad habits.

Does Caillou Have Cancer?

No Caillou does not have cancer even though he has no hair. 

People have speculated that there was a chance that Caillou did have cancer, that is False.

Kids who are fighting cancer can relate to how Caillou appears to audiences on TV as he does play a 4 year old child on his show with no hair.

Then Why Is Caillou Bald?

The real reason that Caillou is bald and has no hair is due to the fact that when Caillou was first created in books he was at a baby's age with no hair on his head.

As the TV series picked up the character to turn him into a full TV star cartoon they made him the age of a 4 year old child and thought if they give him hair that he would possibly be unrecognizable to his fans.

In order to make Caillou appear older than a baby with no hair they added a hat on him at certain times throughout the series to try and help create an older looking version of him while still being recognizable to his fans seen here:

So because they wanted him to be consistent with the looks of the character they never added hair to his bald head.

This is according to the official Caillou franchise and that is the real reason why Caillou is bald and has no hair.
